European Master of Science in Midwifery
Master européen en Sciences Sages-Femmes

Tamar van Haaren – ten Haken (RM MSc) - Academie Verloskunde Maastricht - Zuyd University

Tamar van Haaren – ten Haken I qualified as a midwife in the Netherlands in 2000. For two years I worked as an independent primary care midwife in Amsterdam and afterwards I worked in a regional hospital in labour, antenatal and postpartum wards.

During my work as a midwife I have obtained a Master degree in Midwifery Science at the University of Amsterdam. In 2008 I have become a lecturer at Academie Verloskunde Maastricht – Zuyd University.

My interest in scientific research in the field of midwifery has led to the start of a PhD trajectory, which I hope to finish in 2016. The focus of my research is on preferences, expectations, experiences and outcomes of healthy nulliparous women regarding their intended place of birth: home or hospital.

Within the European Master of Science in Midwifery I am currently involved as the coordinator and lecturer of the module Public Health and Maternal & Infant care.

Working with students, especially from the international perspective, is very inspiring and I am really glad to participate in this Master!
